Sheikh Ahmad Al Fahad Al-Sabah of Kuwait has
been recently elected as the new President of the Association of National
Olympic Committees (ANOC). Previously, he held the office of
the Olympic Council of Asia. He will replace the former ANOC President Mario Vazquez Raña, who resigned earlier this month after a long tenure.

The elections of the General Assembly took
place in Moscow, Russia on Friday and Sheikh was elected as the new head of
ANOC.
Meanwhile, the President of International
Volleyball Federation Mr Jizhong Wei congratulated the newly elected president
of ANOC. “I am sure under your experienced leadership, ANOC will enter a new
era in development following all the achievements of the former ANOC President
Mr Mario Vazquez Raña,” Mr Wei said in a letter.
