Sand Volleyball Court will be changed into Playground - Volleyball News

The Austell City Council has announced that the sand volleyball court at Collar Park will be turned into a playground and pavilion. The information was released on Monday, April 2. An amount of $39,649 will be invested in order to carry out the plan. Jim Graham, the director of the city's parks and community development departments stated that volleyball court is mostly unused and it should be changed into a playground.

  1. The reason no one used the volleyball court is because you built it incorrectly. Often in volleyball, players have to move outside the boundaries, think tennis, not basketball. Because you didn't build a buffer area around the court that is also made of sand, you've made what volleyball players call an "idiot court". Running on sand while looking up at a ball and them hitting firm ground is a great way to break an ankle.

    Best practices in creating volleyball courts are available on the internet and can be found with a simple Google search.


    If you had built a basket ball court with a 15 foot goal it wouldn't have been used either.
