Russia
maintained its power in the first two matches of the 2012 FIVB World League in
Pool A but dropped the third match to Cuba.
The Caribbean
team posted 3-2 (23-25, 25-17, 25-20, 18-25, 15-10) victory over Russia on
Sunday at the Hamamatsu Arena in Japan. Success improved the record of Cuba to
2-1, while loss moved Russia to similar 2-1 record. However, Russia came on top
with slightly better set and points’ ratio in the three matches. At the end of
first leg of 2012 FIVB World League Preliminaries, Russia topped the rankings
in Pool A with 6 points. Cuba ended with 5 points and settled for second slot
in the pool standings.
