Canadian men’s national volleyball team displayed
an incredible action in the first round of the 2012 NORCECA Continental Olympic
Qualifiers and clawed its ways to the semis.
Canada completed a winning streak of three
matches and defeated Cuba in the last match of preliminary round, which took
place at Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, California on Wednesday. Canada posted
3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 25-21) victory over Cuba and went straight into semi-finals.
According to the set formula of the
competition, the top teams from both pools of the tournament will directly
clinch the semi-final berths, while 2nd and 3rd place
finished will meet in the quarter-finals. Two successful teams of the
quarterfinals will advance to the semis.
The quarter-finals are scheduled to take
place on Thursday, while the semis will be played on Friday.
